Watch enthusiasts often have varied preferences when it comes to the inclusion of a date function on their timepieces. For some, a date function is a practical addition that enhances the utility of the watch. It provides quick access to the date without needing to pull out a smartphone or look for a calendar. This can be particularly useful in professional settings or during travel.
On the other hand, purists might prefer a watch without a date function. They often appreciate the clean, uncluttered aesthetic that a no-date watch offers. This motto rings also true for the new Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date from Parmigiani Fleurier introduced at Watches and Wonders 2024.
This two-hand timepiece stands out with its beautiful dial, enhanced by the signature Grain d’Orge guilloche, a feature that has become a hallmark of this collection since its introduction a few years ago.
The watch face provides ample space for the delta-shaped skeletonized hands and is framed by a knurled bezel made from platinum 950. The slim stainless steel case measures 40mm in diameter and 7.8mm in height, offering a sleek profile on the wrist. Despite its slender form, it boasts a water resistance rating of 100 meters, ensuring durability and resilience.
At the heart of the Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date is the brand’s manufacture movement, PF703. This self-winding movement, consisting of 160 components, is equipped with a micro rotor, as suggested by the name. The tiny oscillating mass, also made from platinum 950, is also adorned with Grain d’Orge guilloche, echoing the aesthetic appeal of the dial. The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date is attached to a steel bracelet.
“In the creation of the new Tonda PF Micro-Rotor No Date, we endeavored to offer to ‘the purist of the purists’ an object that embodies absolute clarity. Every element of this timepiece reflects our vision of discreet and timeless refinement. From the deliberate absence of visual complications to the meticulous selection of ‘Golden Siena’ dial nuances, each choice is guided by an unwavering commitment to aesthetic purity.”
